SUMAKH
Early 20th century, North Eastern Caucasus origin, sumakh wool on wool weaving.
A classic Sumakh with medallions, which on the madder red background bears the characteristic blue rhomboid medallions with a white knot outline and the typical light blue octagons as secondary motifs, similar to those of the Baku area. Along the lateral edges we see Perepedil "swords", to be understood as traces of an older squared design placed around the octagons. Beautiful border frame.
